High Summer & Autumn pasture quality

Across four trials, Vast scored the highest for summer pasture quality producing extremely low levels of seed head through the summer months. Lower seed head production means higher pasture quality and improved animal performance.

Grazing Method: Rotational Grazed – Long Term

EXCELLENT RUST TOLERANCE

Excellent rust tolerance

Rust is a common fungi infection in ryegrass. Affected plants will have visible orange spots on leaves reducing the green leaf area of plants, leading to slower growth rates, lower palatability and lower animal intakes.

At several trial sites across New Zealand Vast demonstrated strong rust tolerance maintaining animal acceptance of high quality feed during summer.

EXTREMELY PERSISTENT

Extremely persistent

Vast has been selected for fine leaves and diploid level tiller density. These attributes, pared with the insect tolerance advantages of AR37 endophyte, deliver enhanced persistence for Vast to perform under challenging conditions. When trialled in the Waikato under significant insect and climatic pressures Vast AR37 demonstrated strong persistence under cattle grazing.

Testimonials

The extremely late heading date and low aftermath heading have really been a game changer. When everything else has gone to seed, Vast is still pushing high-quality vegetative pastures further into summer. Vast really does just what the brochure said it would.

Ross Laing
Northern Waikato

I tried some pre-commercial Vast demo packs and I’ve been so impressed I haven’t looked back! I’ve currently got ewes lambing on it and it’s been ticking away beautifully. It was drilled quite late, but it’s still been very consistent.

Darren McNabb
Northern South Island

Having different tetraploids with different dates gives us more time to stay on top of things and maintain quality. The late heading date of Vast has been a great addition. I’ve been particularly impressed with the low aftermath heading of Vast – it was the only paddock that didn’t need a portion of the paddock topped.

Tony Coltman
Central South Island

I’ve been really impressed with feed quality of Vast – I haven’t had to top the paddock yet. It’s held its quality over the summer and has impressive clover content within the sward.
